NOTICE: I am a practicing Catholic Layman, very active and in good-standing with the Diocese of Honolulu, who professes faith and loyalty to the Church. In Memoriam: Little Audrey

THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO OBTAINING
THE OPENING OF THE CAUSE FOR CANONIZATION OF
AUDREY MARIE SANTO, MYSTIC & VICTIM SOUL

EARLY LIFE
Audrey Marie Santo was born on December 19, 1983, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the youngest of four children in a loving Catholic family.  Her parents, Linda and Stephen Santo, raised their children in a home where faith was woven into everyday life.  Audrey was a quiet, gentle child with a serene temperament that stood out even in her earliest years.  She enjoyed simple childhood pleasures—playing with her siblings, following her mother around the house, and exploring the backyard.  Those who knew her often remarked on her unusually peaceful presence, though no one could have imagined how profoundly her life would touch others.  Her early years were ordinary, yet filled with the warmth and closeness of a family deeply rooted in their faith.

A FATEFUL EVENT
On August 9, 1987, when Audrey was just three years old, a tragic accident forever altered the course of her life.  While playing outside, she wandered near the family swimming pool and fell into the deep end.  Although she was quickly pulled from the water and resuscitated, the lack of oxygen caused severe and irreversible brain damage.  Audrey entered a state often described as non‑responsive or semi‑comatose, unable to speak or move independently.

Doctors offered little hope for recovery and recommended institutional care.  Her family refused.  Instead, they brought her home and transformed her bedroom into a small medical care unit.  Her mother became her primary caregiver, tending to her every need with unwavering devotion.  Despite her condition, visitors frequently described a sense of profound peace in her presence, as though her silence carried a spiritual depth that words could not express.  This quiet, hidden life would soon become the center of extraordinary attention.

MEDJUGORJE
Within the few years following the accident, the Santo family (particularly Linda) sought spiritual guidance and healing wherever they could.  Their journey eventually led them to Medjugorje, a once-obscure village in Bosnia‑Herzegovina where six young people reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary beginning in June 1981.  The Linda traveled there with Audrey, hoping for her healing.

During their visit, several people—including priests—remarked on Audrey’s unusual charisma and suggested that she might have a special spiritual role.  She was actually present with the Medjugorje seers during an apparition, and seemed to awaken from her semi-comatose state to temporarily share in their vision.  She seemed excited but almost immediately after, she suffered an unexpected medical crisis that required emergency government assistance in order to return to the United States.  But that trip to Medjugorje became a turning point, strengthening the family’s faith and shaping how they understood the unusual events that would soon unfold around Audrey.

MYSTERIOUS PHENOMENA
Not long after their return, unusual occurrences began taking place in the Santo home.  Several images of Jesus and Mary, other sacramentals, and even a Chalice appeared to weep/exude an oil-like substance or bleed (the oil reputedly effected cures).  These events were witnessed by family members, caregivers, and visitors alike.  Word spread quietly at first, then more widely, eventually drawing pilgrims from across the world.

Many pilgrims claimed to experience emotional or spiritual healing after praying near Audrey.  Others reported the scent of roses and/or physical healings.  The Santo family never sought publicity or financial gain from these events.  Instead, they emphasized prayer, humility, and the belief that Audrey's life was somehow a message from God.  Her sick room became a place of quiet devotion, where thousands came seeking comfort, hope, or simply a moment of peace.

THE STIGMATA
Among the most striking claims surrounding Audrey were reports of stigmata‑like wounds.  Caregivers and visitors occasionally observed marks on her hands, feet, or side that resembled crucifixion wounds.  These lesions usually appeared during the Fridays of Lent without clear medical explanation and sometimes emitted a fragrant oil.  While the Catholic Church did not issue an official judgment on these occurrences, many of the faithful saw Audrey as a special vessel of grace—a "Victim Soul"—silently sharing in Christ’s suffering for the sake of others.  Her life, though outwardly fragile, radiated a heroic strength.

EUCHARISTIC MIRACLES
Perhaps the most widely discussed phenomena associated with Audrey involved the Eucharist.  Several visiting priests reported that during Masses celebrated in the Santo home chapel, consecrated Hosts appeared to bleed.  At least one was tested and verified as human blood and cardiac tissue.  These events drew intense attention from pilgrims and curiosity from skeptics.  Several of the Hosts are still preserved in the Santo's chapel and in the local bishop's custody.

home chapel during Mass.

The Diocese of Worcester did not declare the events supernatural but permitted pastoral care for the thousands who visited.  For many believers, the Eucharistic phenomena affirm Audrey’s profound connection to Christ and her perceived role as a special instrument of God.

DEATH AND LEGACY
After two decades of profound disability and constant care, Audrey Marie Santo died on April 14, 2007, at the age of 23.  Her funeral drew crowds from across the country, a testament to the impact she had on countless lives.  She was laid to rest in Worcester, where her gravesite remains a place of pilgrimage and prayer.

The Little Audrey Santo Foundation continues her legacy by supporting families with disabled children, promoting prayer, and preserving the memory of her life.  For many, Audrey’s story is a powerful witness to the dignity of suffering, the strength of family love, and the mysterious ways grace can work even through the most vulnerable.

POTENTIAL SAINTHOOD

Since her death, interest in Audrey’s possible canonization has grown steadily.  Supporters point to the reported healings, mystical phenomena, and the spiritual fruits associated with her life.  They describe her as a modern example of redemptive suffering—a young woman whose silent endurance inspired thousands.

The Diocese of Worcester has acknowledged the devotion surrounding her but has not yet opened a formal Cause for Sainthood.  Even so, many of the faithful already refer to her affectionately as “Little Audrey” and ask for her intercession in prayer.  Whether or not the Church ultimately recognizes her as a Saint, her life continues to resonate as a story of hope, mystery, and the belief that holiness can emerge in the most unexpected places.

OFFICIAL PRAYER FOR THE BEATIFICATION OF AUDREY SANTO

Eternal Father, I thank you for the gift of Audrey Santo and for her extraordinary witness to the world that all life, no matter how small, broken, or wounded, remains precious in Your eyes.  Grant that she may be venerated as a Saint for the Glory of God.  Hear the requests of all those who seek her intercession, especially the grace for which I now ask: (mention here the favor you wish to pray for).  I ask this through Our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

(conclude with an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory Be)

Please report any favors received to the Little Audrey Santo Foundation.

A PERSONAL TESTIMONIAL
Sometime back in 2001, this author had a vivid dream involving Little Audrey.  In the dream, I found myself high up in the sky surrounded by clouds where Audrey appeared standing in front of me, wearing a dress that went down to her knees ... with shoes and almost knee-high socks.  Everything was a dazzling white! ... and she looked a little different from her photos; appearing completely healthy (not her usual coma-like state), closely resembling the illustrations shown below.

A sketch I made in 2008 to document what I saw
and a beautiful AI-generated rendering of it.

At first I didn't know who she was, but as I continued gazing at her, it suddenly dawned on me and in my excitement, I called out, "Little Audrey!", which she acknowledged with a smile and slight nod of her head.  It was because of her eyes and that distinctive long hair, tied high in the back of her head with a ribbon and large bow, that I recognized her.  I then started blurting out prayer requests for myself and others—one after another, "Audrey, please pray for this ... Audrey, pray for this ... and also pray for this ... and this, too ... etc."—to which she nodded her head and repeated, "Yes ... Yes ... Yes ..." before finally clasping my hands as if to stop my rambling.  Once she had my full attention, she looked me in the eyes then said in a sweet voice something profound that I've never forgotten to this day:

"Yes, I'll pray ... but you have to pray, too."

I woke up almost immediately, deeply impressed and having learned a valuable lesson about the Communion of Saints, which is: When we seek a Saint's intercession, it doesn't mean we can just expect the Saint to do all the work in obtaining for us the graces we are hoping for.  Rather, we also need to do our fair share of praying (and sacrificing) in partnership with the Saint to obtain the end result.

Not long after, I watched a documentary video about Audrey’s life in which Linda gave an interview.  Imagine my surprise when her mother shared that amongst the many unusual events being reported to her about Audrey were her "visits" to the people ... in their dreams!  Since then, I've had a warm spot in my heart for this Little Audrey as I firmly believe that I was a fortunate recipient of one of these visits.  Hence, the reason why I am making a special effort to promote her canonization.  So please join this ministry in praying for her potential Sainthood ...  and ask her for help, trusting that she will pray with you.

Little Audrey, pray for us!
